05 Dec 2021

Dec 5 2021, Denise Laffan led a Group of 8 A Walkers, starting with a steep climb from the upper carpark in the Vee, heading onto Point 630 (Knocknalogha). From there they went on to Knockclugga, with beautiful sunshine all day. The group had lunch at Knockshanahullion accompanied with some lovely Blackcurrant Sherry which gladly warmed us up, compliments to Dan for providing this, it was a nice treat with lunch. From there, they then headed back down along the Avondhu Way and back to their cars.

Ray Creaney led 15 B walkers up the Black Road to take on Galtymore and really enjoyed their first walk in snow this year with plenty of sunshine to go round. Their return journey took them across Dawson’s table, down the ridge and across the river and back to their cars. Many thanks to all who went out and contributed to a cracking day’s walking.

A beautiful sunny dry day in December, a good day for a walk. A group of 22 walkers on a ramble in Bishopswood Dundrum certainly enjoyed their walk heading up past the scouts centre, the walk explores the vast Woodlands, tree felling very evident on the trails but also the new growth, which of course means the landscape and the views are constantly changing, Slievenamon of course one of the distinctive features. Plenty of chat and banter and as usual after a ramble the group brought out the flasks to enjoy a well earned cuppa.

Next Sunday Dec 12th is the club’s annual Holly Walk and members are welcome to bring children along. However, due to the club’s new policy regarding children on walks written parental consent is needed for any U18s taking part. Consent forms will be available at the start of the walk which will leave from Mother Hubbard’s carpark at 11am. Please arrive a few minutes early to allow time to complete for any children taking part. Many thanks.
