Willie Fahey led the A walk in the Knockmealdowns. They set off from the car park near Goatenbridge on the east side of the Knockmealdowns. A steady climb brought them slightly west of the summit of Knocknagnauve. From there they proceeded to Knockmealdown to enjoy lunch in the sunshine with beautiful views including the blackwater river in Co Cork. They then made their way back via Knockshane and Roches Hill. A wonderful winter walk enjoyed by all eleven participants who had a great chat along the way with a hiker from North Cork and his Brazilian companion.
The B group had a great walk in the Nire Valley. 15 hardy walkers crossed the stepping stones en route to Coumfea where they went up the Nose. They then circled the top of Coumalocha, crossed over to the Sean Bhean ag Caitheamh Tabac, then descended via Coumlara. A good challenging and varied five hour walk on a beautiful November day.
The Sunday Ramble headed to Templederry to complete the Cooneen Hill Loop. The group of 22 enjoyed glorious blue skies and beautiful views as they entered the glen of the Nenagh river near Longjohnshill and made their way up past Poul an Ass and the sound of the river and waterfall. They climbed up the meandering country road to the forest track entrance. The beautiful autumnal colours were stunning in the sunshine and the views were endless as they walked along the track and back to the cars. The majority of the group enjoyed a cuppa at the cars. Thanks everyone for joining the Ramble and making it an enjoyable walk. Hope the new walkers will join a club walk again soon.
