Sunday 9 Aug 2020
Walks will be for Members Only for the coming weeks.
Ger Fewer led the A walk. The group of 11 started from Wallistown in the west Galtees. Walking through the woods, crossing over the Blackrock river then upwards along by the wall and then on the track to the col between Knockaterriff Beg and Lyracuppul. They walked to the top of Lyracuppul where they had lunch in glorious sunshine with fabulous 360% views. Afterwards they headed to Carrignabinnia, descended to Bengowrer, then up and down Monabrac and back to the cars. A beautiful Summer day’s walk.
Willie Fahey led B walk commencing at a point on the Cahir to Rossadrehid road heading for the east side of Fearbrega. It took over an hour walking on tracks to emerge onto the open mountain. Lunch was had in the shadow of Fearbrega. Walking in 25 degrees of heat the views were spectacular. A great day out was enjoyed by the group of 13.
Sunday Ramble headed to Christ the King statue in the Glen of Aherlow to complete Rock an Thorabh loop. Starting from the statue and following the red arrows after entering the forestry barrier the group of 9 headed along forestry track. With shade from the beautiful sunshine making their way until they reached crossroads and turned left and up to highest point to the rock of the bull. On such a clear day the views over Tipp town stretched as far as the eyes could see. After a short break still following red arrows continued along forest trail until reaching surfaced road and turning left crossed road and after heading downhill for 100m veered right into forestry along woodland trail and returned to start through nature park where the group enjoyed their picnic.
