16 walkers headed on the C walk led by Maura Creaney. They parked at the Waterworks and headed up the track for Lake Muskry. At the end of the forest they headed left and followed the river into Lake Muskry where they had lunch. They then headed over the ridge and back by the slopes of Knockstackeen. Although cold they enjoyed dry conditions for the duration of their walk. It was a most enjoyable day out for all.
Willie Fahey led the A walk. The group of 11 walkers parked at the hairpin bend at the Vee and descended to the beautiful bridge that crosses the Glenmoylan river. Walking on the south east side of the Glenmoylen valley they made their way to the summit of Knockshane. In mist, with snow underfoot, they proceeded to the summit of Knockmealdown to enjoy lunch in the snow on a sheltered eastern aspect. They then carried on to the summit of the Sugarloaf and zig zagged back to their starting point to make the most of a good day’s walking. Thanks to Dan and Kate for improvising to ensure that everybody had an enjoyable day on the hills.
