11 June 2021

Friday 11 June 2021 the group headed to west Tipperary. We parked at Rock an Thorabh (the Bull Rock) carpark and this week a regular walker with the group, Marie McAteer, said she would lead the walk. The group followed Marie, chatting happily as we made our way along the woodland trail which tracks the sandstone ridge of Slievenamuck. There were wonderful vistas between the trees of the Glen of Aherlow, the Galtee Mountains and magnificent views across to Tipperary Town, the Silvermines and Keeper Hill from the Rock an Thorabh viewing point. We had a very short tune of the “Galtee mountain boy” as we were unsure of the words. We continued along the forest track and came to Christ the King statue and headed along the woodland trail and back up to car park.

A big “Thank You” to Marie McAteer for a great walk enjoyed by everyone. Marie had all her research done and pointed out the surrounding hills and mountains. A job very well done Marie. Thank you to everyone for heading out and making it a lovely evening.
