Sunday, March 11th, 2018 had 31 walkers out on the hills and tracks.
On the A walk Willie Fahey led a group of 6 on a circular walk on the east Knockmealdowns. Starting near Goatenbridge they walked via Crohan West, Knockmael, and home by Knockmealdown and Knockshane. A beautiful day at the outset with rain later on.
Josephine Tobin and her group of 12 had a great day in the Comeraghs on the B walk. They went up Coomlara with raging waterfalls and significant snow drifts, after lunch they had much reduced visibility as they headed towards Coum Iarthair, they continued east and then north to descend in packed snow above boulas, the highest lake had iced up and they then contoured around to Gap and back to cars.
13 Ramblers headed to Latteragh. At the starting point they were surprised at the amount of snow still on the ground. They completed a 2.5 hour circuit taking in lovely views and smelling the scent of pine as a considerable amount of trees are felled and ready for collection. On completing the Ramble on Mothering Sunday Tina had baked fabulous buns which were devoured and reduced to crumbs quickly. Next Ramble is 8th April.
