Sunday 12 Sept 2021, Mid-Tipp had three walks.
Ollie Walsh led the A walk with 10 walkers on an 11k walk in the Comeraghs. Parking cars on the forest track 1k east of Lake Mohra, the group headed for Lake Coumdula in wet conditions and then ascended the ramp at the back of the lake with rain clearing. Then on to Knockanaffrin for lunch and after on to Knocksheegowna, then Shauneenbreaga, and Carrigseegowna before continuing to the forest track to lake Mohra then back to the cars.
23 walkers led by Maura Creaney and Joan Lysaght went to the Knockmealdown’s. The group parked at the Vee and headed up Glen Moylan to Loughmoylan. Then it was up a gully to the col between the Sugarloaf and Knockmealdowns before heading for the Knockmealdowns at 794 meters where we had lunch in cloudy conditions. After lunch, the group went up the Sugarloaf at 663 meters and then it was back down to the cars – a great day out.
The Sunday Ramble headed to Lisvernane to complete Padraigh’s Loop. The group of 26 started at the trailhead past the church and headed up Carroll’s Bohereen and up the lane way that leads to a forestry track. The group followed the blue arrows and headed up across the shoulder of Slievenamuck and through Ballinacourty Woods. As the day was overcast, the clouds limited the views of the Galtees. The group then made their way downhill from the forestry track and onto the surfaced road and back to the village.
