For the C walk a group of 18 walkers were led out by John G O’Dwyer from beside the old An Oige Hostel at Ballydavid. Soon they were serenaded noisily by a donkey and joined by a friendly labradoodle. Gloriously warm weather meant they were soon divesting outer layers as great views opened up. Lunch was beside the phone mast in lovely sunshine. Tree harvesting activities meant they couldn’t descend by the direct route to Ballydavid, so they retraced their steps instead and arrived back to their cars after about 4.5 hours. They were delighted to have first time walkers Ray, John and Ann. Hope to see lots more of them again in the future.
Dan Condren led 7 on A Walk, in unseasonably warm weather, on a lovely scenic walk through the woods by Carey’s Castle. They then came out on the open mountain via some high rise deer fences and followed a route to Long Hill and eventually reached the summit of Lachnfrankee where they had a relaxing lunch. From here they had a leisurely walk back to their cars. A super day out. A warm welcome to new walker TJ from Upperchurch.
