Mid Tipp Hillwalkers would like to clarify that the club have taken measures to comply fully with the Covid 19 regulations announced by the government. So, for all our walks for now, people are encouraged to drive their own cars to the start point of the walk – car-pooling will no longer take place. In addition, we will no longer be meeting as a group for coffee afterwards. So the only time we will be together will be when walking in the open air on the hillside.
Eoin Wolahan led 8 walkers on A walk. Starting at Kilcoran Wood they walked from the public road through Kilcoran wood before climbing up to point 541. They proceeded up towards Sturrakeen, walked until reaching the Cairn 597 where they had lunch. After walked to the next Cairn point 631 before descending the long route back to the forest entry and back to the cars. Magnificent views throughout the walk and the weather was pleasant with plenty of intermittent sunshine.
Kate Fahey led 10 on C walk. Starting from Carey’s Castle they headed down to the forest track and walked uphill by the river on lovely bright sunny day with just one short hail stone shower. Crossing the river heading on open mountain to point 35. They lunched in sunshine and headed on to Longhill with two more smaller river crossings and back to the cars having walked 12km.
This coming Sunday (Mar 22) A and B walks leave from opposite the fire station in Cashel at 10am, there is also Sunday Ramble heading to Templederry. Meeting at Templederry Church at 1030am. As we are in uncertain times with Covid 19 these arrangements are subject to change and members will receive communication if changes required.
Regarding Covid-19 and as a precautionary measure, there will be no carpooling and it is advised that each walker should drive to the start point of the walk.
As per the government and HSE social interaction recommendations that all walking groups/ community gatherings and events for larger groups (100 inside and 500 outside) be postponed until further notice.
Smaller groups are fine to continue walking once they meet these guidelines and take all necessary precautions regarding coronavirus.
