16 Jan 2022

16th Jan 2022 the A walk led by Dan Condren, was in the Comeraghs. Beginning from the Nire Valley car park, the 9 walkers headed North to Knockshegowna, then back to Knockanaffrin for lunch which they enjoyed in lovely sunshine. Afterwards they headed down to the Gap, and from there back to their cars and to Mother Hubbard’s for coffee and buns.
The B walk was led by Joan lysaght and Maura Creaney. 22 walkers started out from Kings Yard where they went up by the Attychran river. From there they went up along the woods onto open mountain. They crossed the river and then travelled east to Knockeenatoung, 601m where they had lunch with fabulous views and sunshine.
After lunch they headed back to the Attychran river where they bumped into a great Mid Tipp friend Denis O’Brien and his buddy (two cork men ). They then headed up a gully in Knocknagalty and at the top Kevin Dolan took a bearing and brought them back to the sheep pen which led them back along the track to King’s Yard. A most enjoyable day out in great weather.
