Dan Condren led nine on A walk and had a great walk around the Nire Valley in lovely weather today. Visiting the Sgillogue lakes and Coumalocha, they ascended via The Nose where they had lunch. Two friendly and jolly sheep farmers with their dogs joined them for a while. They then skirted around the top of Coumalocha with great views, passed the top of the Seanbhean ag Caitheamh Tabac waterfall before returning via Coumlara. The only disappointment of the day was that the Sgillogue fox did not come out to meet them. Suspicion that they were probably passing too early for his lunch hour!

Kate Fahey led the C walk in ideal weather conditions. 21 enthusiastic walkers started out through farmland north-east of Slievenamon. They headed uphill, initially through high ferns and on to Sheegowna (554m). A nice pace was set hiking to summit Slievenamon (720m), where lunch was enjoyed in glorious sunshine. They returned downhill and skirted the base of the mountain. Great to have new walkers out.

If you, or anyone you know, think that you might like to go out walking with the Mid Tipp Hillwalkers please contact the incoming Club Secretary Dan Condren on 087 227 3082 for more details. The club caters for all levels of walkers.

Please note that Club meeting place for Sunday Walks is changing. From Sunday, 24th of October, the A, B and C walks will meet behind Mother Hubbard’s Restaurant on the Cahir Road in Cashel. Departure from there, for A, B and C groups, is at 10am.

This will be done on a trial basis for the next few weeks due to concerns over safety and availability of parking at our usual meeting place. Hopefully this will also be a good place for those who wish to have refreshments after walks.

Also a reminder that the days are getting shorter, darker and colder so please add some extra layers to your bags eg hats, gloves and buffs. A torch is also a useful addition.
