2019 Autumn Challenge

Last weekend 11 to 13 October 2019 members of Mid Tipp Hillwalkers supported the 21st Annual Autumn Charity Challenge based in the 4-star Stationhouse Hotel, Clifden with a selection of walks in Connemara catering for all fitness levels. Josephine Tobin led group on Maumturk Mountains. Dan Condren led group on the Twelve Bens. John G O’Dwyer led group of 54 walkers around Inishbofin Island. Jimmy Duggan led group on walk around Ballynahinch Castle. On Sunday Tina Bourke and Brid Ryan Bourke led group of 38 on lovely Ramble on Omey Island. Saturday evening the group enjoyed a lovely gala dinner where also a significant birthday was celebrated by Michael Sutton.
Over the past 22 years Michael has organised 44 walking weekends with over 6,000 participants, raised €160,000 for special needs people and in that time created hundreds of new friendships. Michael received a well deserved standing ovation. It was a most enjoyable and sociable autumn break, which supports people with special needs.
