Easter Sunday 21 April 2019 was an early Sunday morning for a number of Mid Tipp HillWalkers who headed to Upperchurch for Sunrise Mass and delicious refreshments afterwards in the community hall.
Dick Hennessy led 5 A walkers in pleasant spring sunshine in the comeragh mountains. From the Nire valley they hiked up to Knocksheegowna. They then crossed the ridge over to Cnoc An Aifrinn where they lunched, enjoying the splendid countryside below. They then continued over to the ridge above Comduala lake before descending back to the car. A wonderful day out was enjoyed by all in beautiful April sunshine.
Dan Condren led 6 B walkers completing the loop of Glenary starting from Carey’s castle. In the spring sunshine the countryside was magnificent, and the moss-covered stones and wall along with the budding trees made for a spectacular walk. The 16km walk took in Long Hill and Lachtnafrankee.
Walking is a great way to get fit as well as being a great way to meet new friends and see new places. Give it a go as new walkers are welcome to come along, so, for a healthy, sociable and enjoyable activity, feel free to join us in Cashel at 11am. Just bring boots, suitable clothes and a packed lunch. A change of clothes and particularly footwear for after the walk is also strongly advised.
This coming Sun (Apr 28) the Clubs Annual Orienteering event takes place. There will be two levels of orienteering on the day which will be suitable for all. This is a great fun day out on the hills, if you are are not trained in navigation, thats no problem as there will be leaders in each team. We would encourage you all to come and participate in this adventure and feel free to invite as many people as you can to join us on the day. Just bring same gear as you would bring for a Sunday walk. We leave from opposite the fire station in Cashel at 11am. All welcome. Wear outdoor clothing and suitable footwear and bring a rain jacket and a packed lunch.
Date for your diary.
