Last weekend October 19th, 20th and 21st the Mid Tipp Hill Walkers supported the 20th Annual Autumn Charity Challenge based in Hotel Westport, Westport, Co Mayo.
To facilitate the large numbers who attended the Autumn Challenge in Westport, there was a walk to suit everyone.
On Sunday Brid Ryan Bourke and Joan and Tom Lysaght led day two of the pilgrim route from Bohea to Murrisk crossing the shoulder of Croagh Patrick. This outing offered a very scenic low-level excursion. Those completing the Irish Pilgrim Journey had their passport stamped in Campbells pub, Murrisk. We had 5 people with all 5 pilgrim stamps who will receive their Teastas Oilithreachta (Completion Certificate). Weather conditions were excellent and a lovely end to the weekend. Thanks everyone for a great day out.
The Sunday Ramble on Bertra Strand was a very scenic beach walk in the shadow of Croagh Patrick. Tina Bourke and 18 others enjoyed the ups and downs of the dunes before coming back onto the beach. It was lovely to hear laughter and chat over the roar of the sea, photographs were taken, hair was all over the place with the wind, names written in the sand and of course the beautiful shells and coloured stones had to be admired, leaving everyone longing to stay longer, but home was beckoning us. A fab walk as always.
Date for the diary April 5th 2019 Spring Charity Challenge will be in Tralee, Co Kerry.
This coming Sunday (28 Oct) A and C walks leave from opposite the fire station in Cashel at 11am.
