Friday evening 23 July 2021, Winnie Flynn led the Friday night walkers through the forestry and bog of Cappamura. Winnie, apart from been a member of the Mid Tipp Walkers, is also a member of South Eastern Mountain Rescue and was accompanied by her dog Flame, who is a member of Sarda (Search and Rescue Dog Association). Flame is being trained by Winnie, who hopes to qualify her next December or January. The two, along with Winnie’s sisters, Teresa , Frances and Michele took time out to take the group on a truly beautiful walk. While enjoying the natural surroundings of the forest, the thunder rumbled away above our heads and even though it did rain, we were well sheltered by the trees. On emerging into the openness of the bog itself, the thunder and rain had passed and the sky cleared again. As Winnie and Flame led the way, there was plenty of chat and laughter before the walk continued into another forest and then onto a lane that brought us back to our cars, and, as usual, a cuppa was enjoyed afterwards in the open air. Again thanks to Winnie and her sisters and of course Flame. We wish her the best in the future, and we can’t forget Flame ‘s cousin Mia who kept a close eye on proceedings throughout the evening. A very happy group enjoyed a lovely evening.
On next Friday, 30 July 2021 the Friday evening walk will head to Durrow. Meet at the Castle Arms Hotel at 6.50pm for start of walk at 7pm sharp. Please bring a flask and snack for cuppa after walk. If interested, please book in with Brid at 086 8071753 before Wednesday 28 July.
