24 July 2020

Walks will be for Members Only for the coming weeks.

Friday evening 24 July 2020 our group of 32 met on the village green in Durrow and followed the riverside path behind Bob’s Bar into the grounds of Castle Durrow. Heading along the bank of the River Erkina over the stile and shortly over the metal footbridge through Knockanoran Wood. Crossing R434 with caution taking a left, right and left through stone stile and into woods of Dunmore Demesne. Meandering through the woods and along the banks of the River Nore. Crossing the N8 and into woodland to reach metal footbridge over the River Erkina and following the bank through farmland with livestock and lively bloodstock along the River Nore and then along wooden railings for a short distance before crossing a stile and entering woodland. Crossing the N77, turn right and entering woodland again after only 100m. A short incline into pleasant section of woodland and green leafy lane took group to roadway where the loops leads to leafy loop option 2 for return trip to Durrow in a few weeks. The group turned right and back to the green in Durrow. A most enjoyable walk. Thanks everyone for heading out and making it an lovely evening.
