25 August 2017

Alas all good things come to an end. Aug 25 we had 29 people out on our last Friday evening walk of 2017. We had a beautiful evening as we completed the circuit of Cooneen Hill Templederry. We entered the glen of the Nenagh river near Longjohnshill and made our way up to Poul an Ass and the waterfall. We managed to just see the imprint of the hoof through the fern foliage. We were blessed with fine weather as we climbed up the meandering country road to the forest track. On our return we had views of the lights twinkling in Templderry village. The local hills had a purple hue from the heathers and just before we got back to our cars the evening sunset treated us to fabulous views of Lough Derg & the Nenagh skyline.

26 of our group enjoyed refreshments where we were spoiled as usual in Stapletons Pub in Borrisoleigh.

A big thank you to everyone who walked with us from May 26 to August 25. We had 14 Fridays and visited a different location on 12 evenings. People often say they can’t believe how lucky we are to have such beautiful walks and hills on our doorstep. We enjoyed showing our newcomers what Tipperary has to offer and to our regulars who have become friends enjoying the chat and banter as we climb the hills and valleys. Watch out for details of Mid Tipp Hillwalkers selection of walks – The Sunday Rambles or an A, B or C walk.
