Friday 28 Aug 2020 the group of Friday evening walkers headed to County Laois. We had a lovely evening in Heywood Gardens to finish off our season of Friday evening walks for 2020. Heywood Gardens, near Ballinakill, County Laois, consists of gardens, lakes, woodland and some exciting architectural features. The park is set into a sweeping hillside. The architect Sir Edwin Lutyens designed the formal gardens, which are the centrepiece of the property. One of the site’s most unusual features is a sunken garden. The Heywood experience starts beside the Gate Lodge. Information panels and signage will guide you around the magical Lutyens gardens and the surrounding romantic landscape. Thanks everyone for heading out and making it an enjoyable evening.

In these strange Covid 19 times we are very lucky to have such beautiful walks and hills on our doorstep. We enjoyed showing that walking has a lot to offer and to our many regulars who have become friends enjoying the chat and banter as we walked and climbed the hills and valleys. A big thank you to each and everyone who walked with us from July 17 to August 28. We had 7 Fridays and visited a different location on each evening. Hope that now the fitness levels have increased that people will continue walking with the club and also come out on the Sunday rambles.

For the unforeseeable future, the Sunday Ramble walks will be for Members Only and it has been advised to minimise the numbers as this will make parking and social distancing easier. Please read the guidelines carefully which were forwarded by email to members recently.

The next Sunday Ramble is Sept 6 and we are heading to Cadamstown to compete a lovely extended walk in the Slieve Blooms.

If you are interested in going, please contact Tina Bourke at 086 3565134 to book in and for details of walk location and start time etc.
