Cathy Reilly led 11 walkers on the A walk and they started in dry conditions from Rossadrehid Waterworks. They climbed along the ridge to Knockastackeen, 583m in poor visibility. From here they dropped down to Lough Muskry and then turned uphill through a steep gully to the summit of Greenane at 802m. Lunch was enjoyed at O’Loughlin’s Castle to much appreciated shelter from the rain and high winds! They then headed back down through very poor visibility to the col on Knockastakeen and finally met up with the forest track to return to their cars.
Huge congrats to Cathy Reilly for leading her first Mid Tipperary Hillwalkers A walk in very challenging conditions. Well done from everyone Cathy on a job very well done! And thanks to TJ for photos from walk.
Eileen Ryan led a group of 17 walkers on the C Walk in the Comeraghs today. They did Lachtnafrankee and Long Hill. They found a sheltered spot for lunch at a peat bank by a track under Long Hill. They then followed the track back towards the Punchbowl and after crossing some rough, heathery ground arrived back at their cars after about 3 and a half hours. Visibility remained poor all day. The fog never lifted but the C Walkers were undaunted and remained in good spirits all day.
