29 Dec 2019 group of 12 led by Matt Joy started out on A walk from the Nire Valley on a route which took them firstly to Knockanaffrin in heavy fog and then towards the Gap as the fog lifted. From there they made their way up Carrignagower in very windy conditions which made the going just a bit more difficult. They then made their way across the plateau and down through Coumlara which provided some shelter from the wind as they made their way back to the car park. A great walk and great company made the last walk of the year very enjoyable.
A group of eleven walkers, led by Eddie Morrissey, spent the final walking Sunday of the decade on the Knockmealdowns. The B walk started in the car park above Bay Lough the group followed the Blackwater Way to Knocknaclugga before heading for Knockshanhullion where they enjoyed lunch in the shelter of the cairn. In very poor visibility the group navigated their way, with the help of a few fences, back to the Tipperary/Waterford border before negotiating the steep descent to the cars. With the Christmas cobwebs blown away the group returned home in high spirits.
The Sunday Ramble headed to Dundrum woods. Starting at Bishopswood the group of 13 enjoyed the area with its extensive forest road network giving the group plenty of scope for walking. The group enjoyed ideal walking conditions and views and finished their walk with a cuppa in Butler’s Centra in Dundrum.
We would like to wish all our Facebook followers and members and their families best wishes for 2020 and looking forward to lots of lovely walks in the new year.
