29 Sept 2019

On Sunday 29 Sept 2019 Josephine Tobin led 12 A walkers out on western Galtees, taking in Knockaterrif Mor and Beg, Lyragcappul and Monabrack. Mist, hail and beautiful sunshine to finish. Enjoyed by all.

Eoin Wolahan led C walk. 14 walkers enjoyed a lovely walk which started at the “old Ballydavid Hostel ” area near Rossadrehid. The walk consisted of loop walk up to the “mast point” taking in wonderful views of Sturrakeen and other surrounding areas. Walking through forestry finding a lovely sheltered place for lunch. Continuing on forestry paths in intermittent sunshine passing by some rivers and steams before making their way back to complete the loop and return to the cars. This was a most enjoyable walk.

This coming Sunday (Oct 6) A and B walks leave from opposite the fire station in Cashel at 11am. All welcome. Wear outdoor clothing and suitable footwear and bring a rain jacket and a packed lunch. There is also a Sunday Ramble leaving Slievenamon carpark Thurles at 10am heading to Abbeyleix to compete the Killamuck Bog Loop. This walk on minor roadways, riverbank, forestry paths, bog paths, old railway line, boardwalk and woodland tracks brings you through different environments around Abbeyleix. Hope you can come and join us. We are leaving Slievenamon Road carpark 10am SHARP to arrive at Manor Hotel Abbeyleix at 1040am. Contact Brid 086 8071753.

Walking is a great way to get fit as well as being a great way to meet new friends and see new places. Give it a go as new walkers are welcome to come along, so, for a healthy, sociable and enjoyable activity, feel free to join us in Thurles at 10am or Cashel at 11am. Just bring boots, suitable clothes and a packed lunch. A change of clothes and particularly footwear for after the walk is also strongly advised. There’s a choice of walks each Sunday, so there’s something to suit everyone.

Note for your diary, the Clubs AGM will take place on Wednesday, the 9th of October in Templemore College at 7.30pm.
