6 Jan 2019

On Sunday 6th Jan 2019, Nollaig na mBan Mid Tipp Hillwalkers had 22 walkers out on the hills. 12 walkers led by Willie Fahey completed an A walk in the west Knockmealdowns in beautiful weather for January. The underfoot conditions were exceptionally good for this time of year. A loop walk took in Knockshanahullion the highest point in that part of the range. Lunch was taken in the forest in comfort and a thoroughly enjoyable day was had by all.

A group of 10 C walkers with Dan Condren did a tour of the northern lakes in the Nire Valley. Beginning by crossing the stepping stones, they visited Lough Coumfea, had lunch in Coumalocha, and looked down on the Sgillogue Lakes. It was a beautiful January day for walking, with wonderful views all round.
