Sun 6 Oct 2019. Ollie Walsh led A walk starting at end of lane on west side of Clydagh Br. A long walk westwards to ramp at base of lyracappul straight up ramp for lunch at wall and returned eastward along wall and down knocknanuss and back to cars. 8 walkers enjoyed a fabulous day out.
Kate Fahy led 20 walkers on B walk in ideal conditions on the Galtees. Headed up Knockasteen, on to Borheen lough and back on to Knockasteen.
Brid Ryan Bourke led 14 ramblers to Abbeyleix to compete the Killamuck Bog Loop. Starting at Manor Hotel Abbeyleix the group enjoyed the walk through woodland path, known as Lord’s Walk continuing through Collin’s Bog. Then crossed Cork/Dublin road before entering a greenway to Killamuck Bog which is a wildlife habitat and special area of conservation. Gingerly had to walk the extremely slippery boardwalk and continued on woodland tracks. Returned to Hotel by minor road and then Cork/Dublin road as came to section waterlogged and impassable. Majority of the group enjoyed refreshments after walk in the Hotel.
There is no scheduled walk from Cashel next Sunday as Mid Tipp Hillwalkers will be supporting the AUTUMN CHARITY CHALLENGE which takes place from Friday to Sunday, October 11 to 13 in the 4-star Stationhouse Hotel, Clifden. With a selection of walks for all levels of ability but the big attraction has always been the chance to meet old and new friends while raising money for the Charity Challenge.
Note the Clubs AGM will take place this Wednesday 9th of October in Templemore College at 7.30pm.
