Sunday 08 July 2018 was the Final Sunday walks from Cashel until September.
The A level walk started from the Nire Valley in the Comeragh Mountains. A party of eight led by Matt Joy ascended Curraghduff in sweltering heat with just the occasional but welcomed breeze. Lunch was on the cliff edge overlooking the Sgilloge Lough’s with panaramonic views. The group then took advantage of the dry conditions and chose the unusual route across the plateau to approach Coumshingaun from a direction never done by the group before. From there they made their way down Carrignagower to the gap. Where one hardy soul assended Knockanaffrin as the remainder made their way out the old mass route
Willie Fahey led the C walk in West Knockmealdowns. The group of 6 completed a five-hour full loop of the base of Farbreaga and Crow Hill including a detour through a forest. A beautiful day for walking.
Friday evening walks continue throughout the summer, departing from Thurles at 6.30pm each Friday. If anybody is planning a walk during the summer and would be willing to invite club members, please let Dan know and he can circulate details.
