The ‘A’ group of seven led by Matt Joy ascended Galtymore from the Black Road on the southern side of the mountain. Due to the day that was in it they agreed to do a short quick walk stopping along the way for to learn the history of mapping in Ireland and to examine one of the Benchmarks on the Galtees which was used to define height above sea level. Lunch was on top of Galtymore, as visibility closed in they departed from Dawsons Table where they were pummeled by sleet and wind. They made their way down Knocknagalty and back to the Black road in wet conditions and home in time for the Easter egg hunt
The ‘C’ walk led by Maura Creaney had 5 out, they went in the ice road to Lough Curra. Nice day starting off. Weather turned very bad at the lake and started snowing. Back out same way.
