The walking gods created a fab day for all out and about on the hills.
Dick Hennessy led the “A” walkers. The group of 13 walkers, including one new walker, on a beautiful sunny day in the Knockmealdowns. Starting at The Vee the walk included the ascents of Knockshane, Knockmealdown and the Sugarloaf with a lunchbreak in sunshine on Knockmealdown. It was a lovely walk with great views, enjoyed by all.
Ray Creaney led the “B” walk out to the galtees today. Up Knockantarif, Knockantarif beg, down to the river and then up Monabrack before the group of 13 headed back to the cars. Views were fantastic.
The Sunday Ramble headed to Jenkinstown Wood Loop Co Kilkenny. Starting from the car park, exiting through the ‘door-in-the-wall’ and turning left on to the woodland path following the purple arrow which is for the longer loop. Jenkinstown Park was once part of a large estate, the old house is long gone but the facilities include a picnic site, forest walks, deer park. As our group of 26 headed out all that could be heard was the rustling of the leaves as we kicked them as we walked. The buzz of chatter from the walkers said it all – great weather for a lovely morning ramble in a magical walled wooded walk.
All roads lead to Upperchurch this coming weekend 10th, 11th and 12th November 2017 for their 12th Annual Walking Festival. Good walking, good company, great food and community spirit. Hope you can make it to Upperchurch for their walking festival as there is a walk to suit everyone.
