Summer 2018 the club is organising two trips abroad. Details so far are as follows:
France – June 2018
John Lynagh is planning to walk the Best of the Robert Louis Stevenson Trail in the Cevennes mountains in the south of France. This is a walk of 140km over six days starting in Le Puy en Velay and finishing in the village of Florac.
Dates: Flying out on Friday, 8 June and returning on 15 June, subject to accommodation being available during that week.
Costs: Cost of trip is €785.00 per person sharing for seven nights bed and breakfast and six evening meals. The first evening’s dinner in Le Puy is not included.
Cost for anybody requiring single room accommodation is €925.00.
Flights cost approx €182.00 return not including a checked in bag.
Coach transfers in France will cost approx €60.00 per person.
Participants are limited to a 15 kg bag for transferring day to day on the trail.
Limited places: Due to a scarcity of accommodation at some of the smaller villages along the trail, the maximum who can come is 16 people. Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

Poland – August 2018
Our August trip for 2018 is to the Tatra Mountains and National Park in Southern Poland. The Tatras are the highest mountains in Poland. They are located in the very south, crossing the border with Slovenia 9Most of the range is in Slovenia). Rysy, at 2503m is Poland’s highest peak. The Tatra national park has hundreds of marked walking trails at all levels, with easy access from Zakopane. In short, there will be plenty of walking for everybody.
Destination: Zakopane. This should be a lovely town, and is the centre of hillwalking and mountaineering in Poland.
Dates: August 10 – August 17 in Zakopane. Some people are planning to stay a few nights on the way home in Krakow, one of Europe’s beautiful cities before returning home.
Flights: Flying out Friday, 10 August. Return 17 August (or a day or two later if visiting Krakow). Flights are from Dublin to Krakow with Ryanair. Outward flight: FR2023, depart 11.05am.
Location and Accommodation: Hotel Helios, located in the centre of Zakopane

• Flights: Approx. €110 each way at present (excl. luggage)
• Car hire + fuel: €130 pp
